چکیده

a previous communication by the writer (Greval, 1939) and is published in response to several enquiries received last year. Disputes in paternity and maternity arise : (1) When a child is alleged to be supposititious. This appears to be the commonest cause in India. (2) When a man is averred by a woman to be the father of her child. This is the commonest cause in Europe. (3) When a husband avers that he is not the father of his wife's child. (4) When children are suspected to have been changed in a maternity hospital.

Molecular Testing for Toxoplasma Diagnosis in Aborted Fetuses- Taleghani Maternity Hospital- Arak- Iran

Background: The diagnosis of toxoplasmosis is most critical in pregnant women who acquire infection during gestation and also in fetuses and newborns who are congenitally infected. This study described the performance of molecular and confirmatory serologic testing for toxoplasma infection in the tissues of human spontaneous aborted fetuses and their mothers' blood. Materials and Methods...

Parentage in the cooperative breeding system of long-tailed tits, Aegithalos caudatus

In cooperatively breeding birds multiple maternity and paternity of broods is not uncommon, reproduction often being shared among group members as well as with extragroup members. We investigated the extent of extrapair paternity and intraspecific brood parasitism in a population of cooperatively breeding long-tailed tits. Our aim was to determine the frequency and cause of mixed parentage and ...

Sex-linked markers facilitate genetic parentage analyses in knobbed whelk broods.

To explore the potential of sex-linked polymorphisms for genetic parentage analyses in natural populations, we have employed a recently discovered "X-linked" microsatellite marker (in conjunction with polymorphic autosomal loci) to deduce biological paternity and maternity for large numbers of encapsulated embryos within individual broods of the knobbed whelk (Busycon carica). Empirical finding...

Extrapair Paternity and Maternity in the Three-Toed Woodpecker, Picoides tridactylus: Insights from Microsatellite-Based Parentage Analysis

Molecular techniques have revealed that avian mating systems are more diverse and complex than previously thought. We used microsatellite markers to determine genetic parentage, the prevalence of extrapair paternity and quasi-parasitism (i.e. situations where a male's extrapair mate lay in his nest) in a socially monogamous population of three-toed woodpeckers (Picoides tridactylus) in southern...
